MiniSoccer

For this Project I did a 3D integration of an unrealistic figure with a moving camera

Taking Photos

To start the project I took a video and photos for the project

For the start I took photos and a video so that I can track and match the perspective and movement of the camera to Maya

Tracking

When tracking I was making sure that instead of getting the track to have many points I wanted to have the track to have at least enough points for me to know where the edges of the things are.

Then for the track I selected the ground plane and the measurements of the table on the tracking points.

Putting in Maya and matching box

To make the unrealistic object seem real I wanted the object to interact with real objects.

I scanned the real box to get the texture of the object and put it on the box.

once I have that I can put a bump map into Maya to match the specular of the real box.

Then for the inside of the box because it is just white I made the box white and changed the speccular.

Adding Mixamo animations

For Mixamo Animations I had to start with finding and putting together a slap comp to make sure that the animations would work

Once the slap comp is done we had to get the mixamo animaitons into Maya and make sure that they are in perspective.

For animations coming in from Mixamo I had a problem where I had multiple animations. To fix that problem I decided to export all the animations as an alembic file and import it back into Maya and blend shape each alembic.

To keep the alembic file locally referenced in Maya I referenced alembic and saved the Maya file as an ma to then manually locally reference in the ma with a text editor

Compositing in Nuke

Then once we have all the renders we can composite it out onto nuke

Masked out image

Because the object will move through the scene I needed to mask out the clean plate so that when the object moves I can still see the background

Masks

I decided to add a mask element so that when objects overlap some elements overlap each other I could mask them out used this mostly for the shadow of the box

Ground elements

For the ground elements I added a shadow and occlusion for all the objects and a reflection for the box where the table is

Objects

For the objects I did most of color correct on the kicker as because of the blend shape I had to do a lighting and saturation match.

Then I added a shade of blue over every object.
